I Have a Question

I would like to return to my home country. Can IOM France help ?

IOM is not involved in the voluntary return process in France. If you would like to return to your home country, you need to visit or contact the nearest French Office of Immigration and Integration (OFII)’s local office to make an appointment.

Please find further information about return and reintegration assistance here.

Please note that this a programme implemented by the French administration and you will therefore be sharing your details with them if you choose to contact them.

I am a refugee, a stateless person or I benefit from subsidiary protection in France and I would like my family to be reunited with me here. Can IOM France help ?

Any person for whom protection has been granted by the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (OFPRA) may, under certain conditions, be joined by his or her close family (spouse or partner and children aged 19 at the time the visa application is submitted) through family reunion.  Family members eligible for family reunion must go directly to the French Embassy or Consulate closest to their home to apply for a long-stay visa.

Partners and children from a union contracted after submission of the request for protection are not eligible for family reunion. In this situation, a request for « regroupement familial » must be initiated by the protected person to the French Office of Immigration and Integration office (OFII).

For more information on the family reunion procedure for beneficiaries of international protection, click on this link.

IOM does not have a financial support mechanism to facilitate family reunion.

I am a foreign national with a residence permit

Any foreign national residing in France legally for at least 18 months may, under certain conditions, request to be joined by his/her spouse and minor children by submitting an application to the French Office of Immigration and Integration office (OFII). This procedure is known as « regroupement familial ».

For further information about the application process and the conditions that must be met by the foreign national in France (legal residence, financial conditions, housing conditions), and by the eligible family members, click on this link (in French only).

I have obtained the French citizenship

Any foreign national who has obtained the French citizenship may, under certain conditions, be joined by his/her spouse, children under the age of 21 and dependent ascendants. Visa applications for family members of French citizen must be submitted by the eligible family members to the French Embassy or Consulate closest to their home.

Unfortunately, IOM does not have a financial support mechanism to facilitate these procedures.
